Description
Fans were invited to reinvent the light side or dark side theme song from Star Wars in their own creative way. Their videos were submitted to an interactive sound wall made up of 154 HP x2 laptops, positioned right on the red carpet. The laptops were programmed to react to the presence of the light side or dark side of the force in characters of the movie as they strolled past the wall, shaking up the red carpet in the most unexpected way possible and allowing fans to be in on the action.
Execution
As stars entered the red carpet, they were greeted with a chorus of light side or dark side sounds depending on the force inside their character. Reactions from the wall were live streamed on Periscope and YouTube as millions of millennials from around the world watched the opening event. Star Wars fans who could only dream of attending the premiere now had the chance to be there, live on the red carpet to serenade their favorite stars.
Outcome
HP received over 2.5 million views from those live-streaming the event at home. And Star Wars fans who could only dream of attending the premiere now had the chance to be there, live on the red carpet to serenade their favorite stars.
