Description

The book comprises a collection of essays from directors who worked closely with him, offering an intimate and honest picture of Shah Rukh Khan the actor, and how he become SRK the icon.

Execution

The design of the book is inspired by the hand-painted billboards of Bollywood. While Bollywood poster artists produced a large number of these works, this tradition has been today replaced by photography. This book revives this wonderful Bollywood art form and presents it in its true glory.

The cover highlights the initials SRK, printed on metallic foil paper. Neon acrylic slipcases reflect the kitsch and glamour of Bollywood. Miss Scarlett, the ornamented typeface of the Tuscan family used on the cover and in the book, was popular with Bollywood painters in the sixties. This font has been used in a contemporary fashion.

Outcome

The book was launched in a glittering ceremony by the star Shah Rukh Khan. The event was covered by leading national newspapers and television channels, giving the brand considerable press coverage and air time. The event highlighted Shah Rukh Khan’s association with Royal Stag and reinforced the brand message ‘Make it large’.
