Description

The challenge of impressing 50+ A+E Television Network C-Suite executives, clients and their guests with branded promotional items speaks for itself. One advantage we had is that people like our branding and look. One disadvantage is that flashy items are not on brand for us.

We decided to create a package of branded items that would be convenient for traveling, and more specifically, useful to guests during their stay in Park City in the middle of winter. We strategically chose unique items that would appeal to our audience, that would set us apart from the other A+E brands, and elevate VICELAND in their eyes.

Execution

We sourced a white Away Suitcase and packed it with on theme, branded items: a Patagonia thermal, adult onesie, beanie, hand warmers, and hangover kit. The rest of the suitcase was filled with branded premiums we already had in inventory: socks, crewneck, mint pill bottle, vaporizer pen, and wireless charging pad.

The room-drop itself was highly orchestrated to pose no inconvenience to the guests receiving it. The number of suitcases and contents of each (apparel size, item quantity) was tailored to the guests staying in the room the suitcase(s) would be dropped in. Suitcases were dropped in each room prior to guest arrival with our brand book newspaper situated on the corner of each bed.

If guests didn’t want to take their suitcase home themselves, there were instructions on the luggage hang tag to simply drop their suitcase with reception before departure so it would be mailed home for them.

Outcome

We received an overwhelmingly positive response from A+E and their clients. Many were pleased with how a majority of the items were tailored specifically for their trip to Park City, while others were struck by the charm of items such as the branded adult onesie and hangover kit.

The Chief Investment Officer at a leading advertising agency commented “I’ve been in this business a long time and have seen a ton of premiums, I think the VICELAND luggage and contents were one of the best premiums we’ve ever gotten from a network.”

We were also sent many photos of executives lounging and enjoying themselves at Sundance outings in the onesies.
