Description

This attention-grabbing spot launches the Hive brand and its first product, a remote control heating device. It maps out a fantastical world, showing all the wacky things we could be doing, instead of fiddling with our heating at home- Hive’s got that covered.

Execution

The film’s song is an original composition. The irreverent lyrics were the foundation of this unusual and memorable execution. To create the stand out necessary for this launch of brand and product, the film goes beyond the normal and everyday- the song tells of all the quirky, imaginary things we could be up to now we’ve got Hive. The visual line-drawing style is raw and doesn’t feel overly manufactured- we wanted the music style to reflect this. We settled on a spoken/ sung folk style, working with a folk artist, who composed the music on his ukulele. The music’s laid-back style makes sense of the fast pace visuals to create an engaging and surprising result.

Soon after the spot was released, the lyrics were being repeated on national TV and all over YouTube.
