Description
In this ad, we see an explorer penguin discover the wonders of a warm and working British Gas home for the very first time. Through his fresh eyes we discover the magical blue glow of a boiler’s pilot light, glorious warm water and toasty radiators.
Execution
CHI & Psyop have been creative collaborators on multiple British Gas campaigns for years. “Explorer” is a charming story about a little penguin named Wilbur discovering the curiosities of a warm home. Together, CHI & Psyop built Wilbur and evolved the visual style for British Gas’ brand and planet home world. The process and the final film are storybook-like, with the moral being the brand’s message: a warm and working home brings happiness.
We used traditional character animation to bring Wilbur to life, which are universal throughout any medium including CG. An advanced feather and fur system was developed throughout the production to bring extra detail to Wilbur’s look and movements.
