OVERVIEW

Description

Given the lack of public campaigns aimed at raising awareness and educating about the importance of early detection of breast cancer in Argentina, it was essential to generate an impactful initiative that allowed women to learn about the disease and offer tools for its early detection.

Based on an article in the British magazine The Lancet, where scientists discovered possible graphic signs of breast cancer on the breasts of models portrayed by Rubens, Rembrandt and Raphael, we created an interactive exhibit called THE ART OF SELF-EXAMINATION.

At the Fernández Blanco museum in Buenos Aires, we exhibited specially intervened artworks by these 3 artists so that women could not only see the symptoms of cancer but also touch them. Through the self-examination technique, for the first time women could recognize through touch the symptoms of the disease such as changes in the size of the breast, lumps and nipple retraction.
