Description

A satire that Celebrates the Competitive Spirit of the Modern Malayalee. A DAY IN THE LIFE OF KERALA is an authentic news commentary on the state of Kerala today, where Competition breeds Chaos between Communism and Capitalism.

Like the metaphor of Indian crabs in a can, its always been Brother versus Brother, Neighbour versus Neighbour, Left party versus Right party, Left bank versus Right bank, White rice versus Brown rice, Fish curry versus Fried crabs, Man's own Pulikali (Competitive Culture) versus God's own Kathakali (Narrative Culture). The day begins with a political stand off between left party and right party on two boats that crash into each other and soon the river is blocked from left bank to right bank, creating a bottleneck in the backwaters, And hundreds of boats lie moored in a crazy traffic jam. Competition breeds Chaos but triggers a bridge between the two sides, as some locals use the stranded chain of boats like a bridge over the backwaters...IT HAPPENS ONLY IN KERALA.The soundtrack is satirical poetry, narrated in the local folk musical form by KALABHAVAN MANI, in this revival of the ancient 'Naadan Paatu' folk news narrative tradition of Kerala.
