Description
Expanding on the campaign premise that “business is an adventure”,The Venture podcast profiled entrepreneurs and revealed the true stories behind their success. Presented in a combination of panels and candid conversations with colleagues, family and friends we wanted to give listeners an inside look at the lesser known trials and tribulation these groundbreaking industry leaders took on to create their ground-breaking businesses.
Execution
Produced in collaboration with Gimlet media and distributed on Apple, Google Play, Spotify, Soundcloud and Stitcher, The Venture was promoted across all the shows in Gimlet’s network, as well as cross-promoted on shows with similarly themed content like the TED radio hour. The Venture was a weekly, eight-episode podcast season featuring industry leaders and founders in podcasts ranging in length from 19 to 36 minutes. In addition, we recorded native messages about Virgin Atlantic’s services after the main content feature, meaning we could generate awareness and affinity for the brand at the same time as driving consideration for the Virgin Atlantic product.
Outcome
The Venture was a huge success and Virgin’s first foray into the podcast world. The first episode was ranked #2 business podcast on Apple’s global charts during the week of launch, and it remained in the top 10 for several weeks. The Venture won praise as a best in class example of branded podcast content, with plaudits on Spotify marketing blog, as well as in Fast Company and Adweek.
