Write a short summary of what happens in the film
At a time when the country is more divided than ever, this is a film about being open to people and to the connections that that brings. It’s a piece of work that asks people not only to be open with what they wear, but also who they interact with. The film shows a diverse range of people across the country, in different scenarios interacting with one another and finding a connection whenever they do so. The ultimate message of the film is that, An Open Mind Is The Best Look, a message of inclusivity that is needed now more than ever.
Cultural/Context information for the jury
The film launched in a time of great division and distrust amongst Americans. It shows a world in which many different people and modes across the country are represented, whilst maintaining Nordstrom’s uniquely ownable message: amazing things happen when high and low brands and people come together. The direction was vital for creating worlds for our characters that looked beautiful and unique, while telling an overarching story. The resulting film shows a world that balances vast scale with touching intimacy.
Tell the jury anything relevant about the direction. Do not name the director.
The direction was key in this film to help us bring our vision of An Open Mind Is The Best Look to life. Through the use of handheld camerawork, the film creates an intimacy with our characters that allows viewers a glimpse of who these people truly are. Given our vast range of people–each fascinating in their own way–we felt it was appropriate to have the shooting style foreground our cast, allowing the viewer to explore the individuals and the scenes in this way.
