Background
The film launched in a time of great division and distrust among Americans. It shows a world in which many different people and modes across the country are represented, while maintaining Nordstrom’s uniquely ownable message: amazing things happen when high and low brands merge and people come together. The film is a departure for Nordstrom, from conventional department store commercial films into an artistic territory that feels radical, ownable and unique.
Execution
The world of the film is inhabited by a medley of characters, and each feels completely authentic and unforced. The casting is essential in order to draw viewers in, create a connection with them and immerse them in the world of our film. To do this, we looked for people with real, compelling stories that would come through in the film, speaking to more than 200 people during the casting process.
