Synopsis
Since 2005, CapitaLand Hope Foundation has been on the ground working with children and their families in countryside villages all across China. Through shared experiences with them, we learnt about their plight and were inspired by their heartfelt stories. Many of these children come from poor families, and have to journey for hours on foot every day to go to school. Yet, they remain stoic and undaunted, ever joyful and appreciative about the opportunity to learn. Ultimately, it is their story that we wanted to tell. Stories of hope, love, and triumph. We picked a little boy named Pan in Muchuan, Sichuan Province to tell this story. By tracing the arduous journey he has to undertake every day, we hope to tell the universal dream of a better future, and show that by building people, we help build them a better tomorrow. BackgroundThe CapitaLand Muchuan Green Hope School, which little boy Pan goes to, was built by CapitaLand Hope Foundation (CHF), the philanthropic arm of CapitaLand. CHF’s focus is to support programmes for the shelter, education and healthcare needs of underprivileged children in Singapore and overseas – ultimately underscoring CapitaLand’s credo, ‘Building for People to Build People’.
