Background

In Brazil, the concept of “Human Rights” was belittled and is usually wrongly associated to the idea of protecting outlaws rather than protecting all citizens. How could we show the scope of the 30 articles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights making these more familiar and interesting for individuals?

Describe the creative idea

We created “The song everyone should know by heart" a song that put the 30 articles in music, featured by influencers of a wide range of social and cultural causes in Brazil.

Describe the strategy

We have chosen some Brazilian celebrities with a good fan base in social networks linked to the world of music and, at the same time, linked to relevant social causes nowadays. The videoclip was featured by the rapper Karol Conka – one of the main symbols of women’s empowerment in Brazil; the singer Daniela Mercury and her wife, Malu Mercury, UN ambassadors in the fight against homophobia; Keila Simpson, chairperson of the Brazilian Association of Travesties and Transsexuals (Antra); and more than 100 volunteers.

Describe the execution

As part of the Declaration's 70th anniversary celebrations, the clip was officially released on celebrity social networks that participated in the clip and the National Public Prosecution Board's profile impacted hundreds of thousands of fans and followers.

List the results

The clip was a subject in the main newspapers in Brazil, being part of a series of reports about the 70th anniversary of the Declaration in the main Brazilian TV channel, besides being a subject in websites and being highly praised in social networks. The video clip resonated so well that new versions of "The music everyone should know by heart" are being recorded by others musicians in other languages such as Spanish, English, French, Tupi-Guarani and some African languages not only to publicize the Human Rights, but to make sure these are acknowledged and respected by people all over the world.
