Our film tells the classic fairytale, Jack And The Beanstalk. But it tells it backwards. So we see Jack take a journey from being a wealthy man all the way back to his humble beginnings – and beyond. So rather than kill the giant, he brings him back to life. Rather than steal the goose that lays the golden eggs, he returns it to its rightful owner. And rather than climb the beanstalk, he slides down it – then swaps the magic beanstalk beans for a cow. It’s all to show that when things go backwards (like when you reverse a car) they don’t always have a happy ending. And that’s why the Vauxhall Astra has a reverse camera as standard…

The world of our film is painstakingly crafted in 3D, giving a modern twist to a classic fairy tale. A rich and detailed environment was created and inhabited by bespoke and original characters. Significant time was spent storyboarding and developing character looks – and every one was subjected to multiple experiments with different features and clothing. Complex detailing and textures were introduced to each element and sequence before being brought to life by animators. Particular attention was given to skin, fabric, feathers, clouds and vegetation – all crafted and finessed by hand. The edit uses crash zooms, hard cuts and seamless camera transitions to emphasise the drama of Jack's journey. It also breaks the letter-box format with the goose and giant's foot to amplify height and scale. In total, the film took more than 1,300 hours to craft.
