SYNC and its API enable the creation, personalisation and branding of music at scale.

Brands are making more video content than ever before - video advertising spend increased by 23% in 2016. When used effectively, music increases emotional engagement, extends watch time and improves recall. But sourcing music is hard. Even top brands source music for their social content from stock audio libraries and use music inconsistently. They are constrained by time and budget.

Similarly, programmatic advertising is evolving but dynamic creative is limited - the problem is scale.

SYNC enables anyone creating content for a brand to make the perfect soundtrack in an easy and intuitive way, whilst our underlying technology ensures that every track conforms to a brand’s audio identity. In addition, our API enables tracks to be created in response to dynamic data. This enables true personalisation.

Execution

Our ScoreNet technology is the most advanced A.I. composition system in the world. It uses deep learning to compose original music note by note, just like a human composer. And we have obtained multiple patents for our proprietary deep-learning processes. We have built upon these technological advantages to provide a bespoke service for brands and agencies that will launch publicly in June 2017.

SYNC is a bespoke application for creating video soundtracks. We work with a brand to translate their brand identity and values into audio brand guidelines which are embedded into the application. Anyone creating video content for that brand can use SYNC to create soundtracks that both fit their videos and the brand identity. With detailed and intuitive controls such as being able to set sync points and shape each track to fit the narrative of the video, we offer the flexibility and scope of working with a composer, but without the extensive fees and time required.

With the API we enable brands to integrate directly with our artificial intelligence. This enables customer data to be used to create personalised tracks. Information about usage and engagement can be collected to inform future decisions.

Outcome

Jukedeck has already had a number of successes to date. Over 1 million tracks have been created using our first B2C product, Jukedeck MAKE, and these tracks are being used on over 12K YouTube videos and elsewhere, including as an ident on UKTV.

Ahead of SYNC’s launch, we are in a number of commercial discussions, including with a global brand wanting audio consistency in cross-platform campaigns. The use of A.I. makes SYNC inherently scalable.

Most recently, our technology powered a personalised digital campaign for Banco Sabadell (created by Grey Spain) where users generated a song and a personalised animation based upon activity on their Twitter or Facebook feeds. The technology and market for personalisation is growing exponentially and, combined with the rise of immersive experiences, we expect for a number of major partners to incorporate personalised music into their campaigns and experiences in the near future.

Relevancy

At Jukedeck’s core is deep technological innovation - our ScoreNet technology is the most advanced A.I. music composition system in the world.

After winning a 2016 Cannes Lion for Innovative Technology with Jukedeck MAKE, our platform for YouTubers, we had interest from a number of brands who wanted to be able to 1) create soundtracks that both fitted their videos and their brand identity 2) personalise music to their users. We have since developed our A.I. further to provide two new services, Jukedeck SYNC and its API (currently in BETA), which specifically address the requirements of the Cannes Lions’ audience.

Synopsis

Jukedeck is developing an artificially-intelligent music composer which can compose and adapt music all on its own.

Our team, led by Ed Newton-Rex, is second-to-none. We have won a number of awards, including TechCrunch Disrupt 2015 and a 2016 Cannes Innovation Lion, with our product for YouTubers, Jukedeck MAKE. Jukedeck has now extended this expertise, deep understanding of video creation, and learnings from our success with individual video creators to provide two bespoke services for brands and agencies that will launch publicly in June 2017.

These innovations will revolutionise the way that music is incorporated into campaigns and products.
