Write a short summary of what happens in the film
The film took on a form of a social experiment. It stars with the introduction of a problem of neighborly relations in Poland, including a quote from a research that states „ Half of all Poles doesn’t even know the first name of their immediate neighbor.”. We see blocks of flats so typical for Poland and hear the interviews with their tenants about now and then with their neighbors. Meanwhile, we secretly start transforming an elevator into a proper Tyskie bar. The bartender jumps in and we launch the elevator and record the neighbors’ reactions. Some are surprised, some are intimidated, some disappear only to return with friends to grab a glass of Tyskie. With every passing hour the elevator gets more crowded as people start getting to know each other better. The film ends with portraits of the tenants, not so anonymous anymore.
Cultural/Context information for the jury
Tyskie is the most popular beer brand in Poland with over 400 years long heritage of bringing Poles together, despite differences. Sadly, Poland is a divided nation and the gap between people is growing bigger and deeper fueled by political tensions. Poles are much more hostile and distrustful of one another than less a decade ago, and the neighborly relationships - once very strong - are falling apart. Half of all Poles doesn’t even know the first name of their immediate neighbor.
