In Ecuador pharma communications are regulated. RX medications are not authorized to advertise in any online or offline media.

CampaignDescription

Savor Saver is and affordable candy that helps cancer patients regain their appetite because they can feel the real flavor of food again instead of the metallic taste after a chemotherapy treatment.

Execution

We first studied the fruit properties for more than 2 years along with a team of

Agro-Industrial engineers tofully understand its behavior, characteristics and elements. The research wascomplemented with studies done by the AmericanSocietyofClinicalOncology to determine the fruit’s efficacy on cancerpatientstreated or to be treated with chemotherapy.

We thenpartnered with the Faculty of Chemistry Engineering of the National Polytechnic University and after a few months of tests, it wasproved that a freeze-drying process was the best to preserve the fruit’s properties because loses itsproperties after 4days of beingpicked.

We then started a manufacturing process assessed by Confiteca, the biggest candy company in Ecuador andwith a team of oncologists, it was developed a sugar-free candyformula, with naturalflavors and sweetened with Xilitol, a USDA-approved organicsweetener also used by diabetespatients.

Finally, we created an affordable candy brandthat is friendlier-than-pills, 100% safe for cancer patients and distributed for free at private and public hospitals.

Outcome

Now cancer patients can really enjoy their mealtimes as they can taste the real flavor of food again and get the energy they need to endure a chemotherapy treatment.

100% of patients who ate the candy gave testimony of the positive effects at mealtime. Many patients confirmed the elimination of the metallic taste and in others food tasted food like again.

The study was for children patients only but because of the positive results the Ministry of Health and cancer organizations are extending the project to adult patients also.

In addition to the medical studies we conducted, we are working with a team of 6 professionals of different fields (epidimiology, genetics and oncology) with the objective that Savor Saver becomes the first Ecuadorian homeopthatic acknowledge by the international medical society.

Synopsis

For more than 40.000 adults and children going through a chemotherapy treatment in Ecuador, food doesn’t taste like food. One of the treatment’s side effects is the degeneration of taste buds, which causes loss of appetite on patients as everything they eat has a metallic taste. This makes more difficult for them to get a proper nutrition to endure such a strong treatment, especially on children patients because getting them to eat vegetables is difficult but it’s impossible when they taste like rusty coins.

The objective is to find an effective and affordable solution for all cancer patients.
