Description

We partnered with Murs, an influential hip-hop artist from LA, and challenged him to break the world record for the longest rap marathon. We streamed it live on Boost’s social channels so fans could follow along and support Murs in his efforts.

Execution

The entire 24 hour rap marathon was shot and streamed live from a Boost Mobile phone. We used a series of underground hip-hop shows over the summer, hosted by Murs and live-streamed by Boost, to promote the world record attempt. As we got closer to the day, we ramped up PR efforts, inviting media properties like MTV, Rolling Stone and Pitchfork to swing by and catch a piece of the broadcast. We started the stream a little after 9am on October 12th, wrapping up a little more than 24 hours later. The rap marathon was live-streamed on Boost’s YouTube channel and shared out on other platforms like Facebook and Twitter. Hip-hop media, such as XXL, also re-posted and shared our video stream. The livestream was shot by the agency on a green-screen in a closed studio location in Los Angeles. Animations were implemented live as the show progressed.
