Description

In fact, for the visually impaired, pictures are important despite the fact that they are unable to see pictures themselves. When they show their pictures to others and hear their thoughts, pictures become a communication tool and record of their daily lives.

Using the selfie feature on smartphones, we hope the visually impaired can discover the joy of taking picture freely with someone. We hope that they will discover their own very best smiles.

Execution

Created two types of 3D selfie photos, both black & white and in color. The class allowed people who can see and the visually impaired people to understand each other's point of view and enjoy the exhibition together.

Held the first historical exhibition where the sighted and the visually impaired can enjoy together on March 3rd and 4th, 2018.

Created B1 posters and 61 types of graphics, and introduced various feedbacks from the workshop. By conducting a selfie 3D paper workshop for the participants, we helped raise awareness conveying different viewpoints.

Outcome

Not stopping as a one-time only initiative, the workshop led to a continuous hands-on learning event.

The pre-released PR video of the exhibition surpassed 770k page views within two weeks after its release. In two days, 138 guests attended the exhibition.

Attracted attention of televised news programs, as well as newspapers.

The 3D paper hands-on learning service launched in April, 2018. Furthermore, we are preparing to launch a 3D paper hands-on learning service by offering “Hearty Course” (smartphone course for the visually impaired) from September and open flagship stores such as 'Hearty Plaza' based on universal design ideas.
