We have tackled the brief from a quirky story telling perspective to showcase the progress that has been made in mobile browsing. The film begins as an ancient shadow puppetry show and later on reveals it is played on the handset; addressing the perception that mobile internet is ‘archaic.’The storyline portrays the Nokia 6260 slide as the Hero, challenged by the Mighty Computer. The Nokia 6260 slide goes on a voyage of self-discovery to better his internet performance and eventually comes back to win the villagers over the Mighty Computer.
Outcome
The quirkiness of the execution breaks down existing pre-conceptions to pitch new key selling points such as faster internet and mobility.Moreover the plot generates sympathy for the Hero – Nokia 6260 slide; reassuring operators that significant progress has been made to allow a smoother consumer internet experience with Nokia.The film has been used as a vital tool for operator sell-in internationally. Nokia is generating sales of over 6.5 million units and the rights to a shorter version of the film were requested to play in-store to integrate the consumer environment.
