Background

eBay is the biggest online platform for car parts and accessories in Germany – and nobody knows it. The task was to change the perception of eBay as a car expert and drive the target group for whom car repair is a highly emotional thing to eBay when they are looking for spare parts and accessories.

Execution

“A second Chance” for eBay is a highly emotional film about a conflict between two brothers. It’s all about human emotions. And when it comes to emotions it has to be real. So, first and foremost, this required excellent acting in gestures and facial expressions without any space for overacting or kitsch and cliché. We looked for authentic actors with the ability to expose themselves and deliver a broad bandwidth of emotions from joy and fun to grief and anger for the young characters and melancholy and hope for the older character.

Outcome

The film changed the perception of eBay as the go-to-platform for car parts and accessories dramatically. Page visits went up by 430% during the campaign. The campaign also pushed eBay’s positive image as car experts with a plus of 250%.

The campaign reached more than 240 million views.
