Background

Piauí is the Brazilian state with lowest average income in the country, In 3 million people, 1.4 million live in poverty.

Meanwhile, the state has the biggest cashew production in Brazil.

The cashew culture is the major business in 55 cities of Piauí, as an important source of employment and income.

So the biggest brewery of the world realized that could generate positive impact with a product

innovation, through its regional beers project.

Idea

AB InBev presents: Berrió. The cashew beer from Piauí

We developed a new beer, with a new recipe inspired by the iconic cashew beverage of the local culture: the cajuína

This new beer is the first large production one with cashew, grown by local farmworkers.

With exclusively local production and distribution, the brand embraced the purpose of valuing the

local culture and the people from Piauí.

Strategy

In the very first production stage, we bought from the local farmworkers more than 200 tons of

cashew, with 400 benefited farm families directly involved and US$ X million entered the local economy.

Execution

We developed a new beer, with a new recipe inspired by the iconic cashew beverage of the local culture: the cajuína.

This new beer is the first large production one with cashew, grown by local farmworkers.

With exclusively local production and distribution, the brand embraced the purpose of valuing the local culture and the people from Piauí.
