OVERVIEW

Description

Fortum is one of the most environmentally friendly energy companies in Europe. With the catchphrase ”Follow the search for tomorrow's energy”, they are constantly trying to find new ways to produce energy. That’s why they’ve recently invested in Waveroller, a new innovation that generates electricity from underwater currents. Experts believe it could provide up to 10% of the world’s energy demand. This is the story of the Waveroller.

Execution

Information about the vote was spread through posters in the subway, ads in newspapers, banners online, text messages, event people in parks and throughout the subway system as well as online where you could cast your vote on specialized banners and on a campaign site. On the campaign site you could find more information regarding the different locations and have a closer look at them, both lit and in the dark. You could vote and ask others to do the same, as well as follow the results as they came in. The ballots were open between November 5th and December 5th 2008.

Outcome

As a result, a total of 6,632 people casted their votes. In addition the campaign resulted in a staggering 32 news pieces in broadcast media. One in three of the city's inhabitants took notice of the campaign and out of them 90% were expressively positive towards it and 41% claimed to have a much more positive feeling towards Fortum.
