Description

Branded content evolves and redefines itself everyday. More brands are looking to shape their content strategies and stand out, especially in the digital terrain. VR from a storytelling perspective is the next frontier and the perfect medium for Branded Content since it literally places viewers into the middle of the action. But there’s still the question of adoption—how fast can we get the hardware into the hands of viewers. As the number of headsets are growing, it's vital to keep content platform agnostic so that it can be viewed across as many channels.

Execution

At the Sundance Film Festival’s New Frontiers Exhibition, Google handed out 8,000 Cardboards to artists, industry professionals, and curious festival-goers alike. Eager crowds experienced Evolution of Verse via Cardboard headsets.

Outcome

Downloads of the VRSE app on the Google Play platform grew to the hundreds of thousands after the launch. Sundance is considering a permanent VR category for future festivals. Audiences across the globe are experiencing high-quality VR at an affordable price with nothing more than folded cardboard, a smartphone, and the VRSE app.
