Description

“Father Time” is a new spot for Apple TV that pairs basketball superstar Kobe Bryant with actor Michael B. Jordan. This is the second ad in a series that takes viewers behind the scenes and into the rarefied air of a Hollywood production trailer. In “Father Time,” Bryant and Jordan are seen using Apple TV a on the set of a fictitious Bryant biopic. The result is a comedic demonstration of how the new Apple TV combines the power of Siri with apps, making it easier than ever to find and enjoy your favorite content. The spot made its debut during the celebration surrounding Bryant’s retirement after 20 years of professional basketball.

Execution

The success of this film hinged on the chemistry and realism of the exchange between the two actors. Kobe Bryant, with his impending retirement being celebrated in culture, made him the perfect subject of our fictional biopic film. The list of actors that could realistically cast ‘Young Kobe’ was small and Michael B. Jordan delivered on the optimal blend of physical resemblance, personal charisma, and reputation as a rising star. Since the spot has ran, many media outlets have suggested that Michael B. Jordan actually portray Kobe in a real movie.
