Execution

The style of the illustrations deliberately recalls the origins of the printing press. The illustrations were created referencing the old 15th century intaglio and woodcut illustration techniques, in which artists would engrave either metal or wooden blocks with an illustration. The image was later transferred to paper, under the pressure of the press.

We’ve developed the illustrations with Steven Noble, a San Francisco-USA based illustrator. For over 25 years he mastered a wide range of details and styles within the scratch-board medium.

He was recognized as one of the “200 Best Illustrators Worldwide” for 2016/2017.

Alongside the illustrator, we’ve done deep researching on Medieval torture devices illustrations, which showed the victims in very painful situations in order to educate and increase fear among the viewers back then.
