Background
For the launch of the new iPhone 13 we needed to showcase the capabilities of its upgraded camera and brand new features. Proving to the next generation of filmmakers that this was not only a device for capturing every day videos, but one that could be put to the test in an elite Hollywood environment.
Idea
We partnered ourselves with two prolific Hollywood level filmmakers and set out to create a film that not only showcased each new camera feature, but pushed them to their limits within the cinematic environments. Each of the 4 “movie scenes” was shot with a single iPhone 13 using only features native to the camera. The result was iPhone’s most cinematic film to date.
Strategy
The goal was to create the most cinematic film iPhone has ever shot. Showcasing the iPhone camera system in a way that felt like it came from a big budget Hollywood film. So special attention was paid to every detail from lighting, props, and camera work to create cinema quality imagery. Inspiring filmmakers to push the limits of what they could create with iPhone.
Execution
In this film, we go behind the scenes of various Hollywood level movie scenes being shot on the brand new iPhone 13. Showcasing its capabilities across five of the most popular movie genres (Action/Adventure, SciFi, War, Romantic Comedy, and Western). Blending what happens behind the camera with what we see through the lens to create a film that perfectly demonstrates the nimbleness, features, and cinema-level video quality of the new camera system.
Outcome
The final product weaved all these elements together in a way that inspired filmmakers big and small alike to see the possibilities of filming with iPhone 13. Accomplishing our goal and setting the standard of what a film shot with iPhone can look like.
