iPhone 12 Pro is the ultimate iPhone, built for people who want the best of the best. It features our most advanced tech and sets the standard for innovation in the smartphone industry. Needless to say, its arrival was highly anticipated.

Our creative brief was rooted in the idea that Apple doesn’t just innovate for innovation’s sake. We innovate with purpose. And every innovation in iPhone 12 Pro is designed to instantly make our customers’ lives better.

So to generate excitement around the launch of iPhone 12 Pro, we set out to create a stunning site that clearly communicates the benefits of all its mind-blowing innovations, while offering deep-dives for the pro audience to geek out on.

As one of the most prominent pages on apple.com, the iPhone 12 Pro product page has a truly global reach — visible in 108 countries, and translated into 31 languages.

Idea

iPhone 12 Pro featured a dramatic new design. And it deserved to be revealed dramatically.

After all, this wasn’t just another iPhone. It was a huge leap forward. With 5G speed. The fastest chip in a smartphone. An edgier design. A Pro camera system that’s killer in low light. A LiDAR Scanner. Night mode portraits. The list goes on.

So to reveal these innovative features in the most dramatic way possible, we took our inspiration from the phone itself. In a nod to the camera’s prowess in darkness and the way light danced across the stainless steel edges, we used striking light passes to reveal our story from darkness as viewers scrolled down the page.

And because we were speaking to a discerning pro audience, we needed to craft a page with a considered, premium aesthetic from top to bottom — leaving absolutely no detail overlooked.

Execution

Our subject was the most beautiful, most advanced phone on the planet. So our approach was to let the product lead, taking great care not to let our design get in the way. Every design choice complements and enhances the product story, but never overshadows it. This restraint gives the design its power.

Stunning product photography, vibrant lifestyle photography, and clean typography reveal themselves from the deep black background, providing a sense of drama and discovery as viewers effortlessly move from one feature to the next.

A seamless integration of creative technology elevates the entire experience. Well-placed elements like triggered video, subtle parallax, and motion tied to scroll help create a dynamic interactive experience throughout.

Whether on mobile, tablet, or desktop, an elegant blend of images, text, video, animation, and deep-dives lets the pro audience geek out on the beauty and mind-blowing technology of iPhone 12 Pro.

Outcome

Every iPhone launch is a big deal around the world. And by all accounts, the iPhone 12 Pro site was a huge success. We saw a 20% increase in site engagement year over year. And an impressive 43% of visitors advanced to checkout.

Beyond the stats, people just plain loved the site.

“Even for Apple this is particularly well done,” tweeted one fan.
