OVERVIEW

Background

This film uses a fan favorite character from the sci fi shooter Borderlands 2 named Maya. This game was originally released in 2012 to both fan and critic acclaim. In 2018 it was adapted for PS VR taking advantage of the new hardware and controls as a new title Borderlands 2 VR.

Execution

PlayStation decided to write "Maya" to the track "Shall We Dance" performed by Deborah Kerr and Yul Brenner from the movie "The King and I" for several reasons. It's pace and classical approach always felt the right juxtaposition unapologetic tone of the game and the spot. It's grand composition and arrangement builds throughout the film and brings the greatness that the players feel when they Borderlands 2. And the lyrics felt like a provocative

but classy invitation to start a crazy fight that's fun but inherently vicious.
