We turned İstanbul’s most famous tram into MINI Countryman. All of the four MINI cars were designed just like the famous tram with all the well-known historical graphics and the typography. They were attached to each other like the tram and they gave free public transport service all day long. The MINI drivers were dressed up just like the traditional tram drivers with the famous ‘tram-ring’ at their hands. We also re-designed the tram stations at the two ends of the route to convey the message more clearly.It was on the internet (Facebook, Twitter, news sites and many blogs) even at the tenth minute. It also generated attention from national media, being on the news of the most famous newspapers and TV channels. Number of likes at MINITurkey’s Facebook page increased from 3005 to 6800 in a few hours.
Outcome
To see the hundred year old tram turn into MINI was an unusual experience for local people. It was on the internet even at the tenth minute. It also generated attention from national media, the most famous newspapers and TV channels.
