Description

The companies that produced this spot set a Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Stop-motion Animation Set’ with their short film ‘Gulp’. (The record breaking largest scene spanning 42 x 24 metres).

Every frame was shot using a Nokia N8, rigged on a crane high above the sand on Pendine Beach in South Wales. The short film about a fisherman going about his daily catch combined the meticulous animation of a real person, objects found on the beach and the sand itself.‘Gulp’ showcases the smartphone’s Carl Zeiss optics and its 12-megapixel photography capabilities, as well as demonstrating how far technology can go when you are willing to innovate, adapt and play with it.After gaining attention from international media both on and offline Gulp became the #1 most viewed animation on YouTube, giving it a prized place on the website's homepage. The film reached over a million views in under a week across YouTube and Vimeo, a figure that now stands over 2.5 million. The story behind the film proved equally compelling and encouraged people to share it out of their sheer amazement of the scale of the production – watch the Making Of film as well.
