Background
The spot offers a crash-course on concussions through a comedic lens. An awareness advocate after suffering herself, Rebel brilliantly debunks concussion myths while wreaking havoc on set, accidentally releasing a python, shooting flames and launching a man into the air.
Execution
Health technology company Abbott and the Brain Injury Association of America (BIAA) have joined forces with comedian and actress Rebel Wilson to raise awareness about the seriousness of concussions in a new PSA.
As the inaugural spokesperson of Concussion Awareness Now, a coalition of non-profits formed by Abbott and BIAA, Rebel is leading the charge to change how society views concussions. Often occurring as the result of everyday accidents such as slips and falls, which happened to Rebel herself on a film shoot. More than half of suspected concussions are ignored. However, Rebel did not ignore and she partnered with this organization and Abbott.
Outcome
Abbott's Concussion Awareness Now campaigns purpose is to spread awareness for the dangers of letting a concussion go untreated. The goal was to reach as many people as possible and with the help of Rebel Wilson, it has already reached over hundreds of thousands of people.
