Overview

Background

The challenge was to unveil the entire Renault electric range while making people want to switch to electric cars. To do this, we remind everyone that we all already loved driving an electric car because when we were children, all our first experiences with cars were... electric (slot cars but also bumper cars or remote controlled cars). So we decided to build a giant slot car track, the one we have always dreamed of, to make all the Renault electric models run in a race full of fun. To change the way we look at electric cars and remind us that Renault's vision on electric cars is built on joy. From the engine technology to the design.

Execution

People still find it hard to give up their thermal car for an electric one, yet we all drove an electric car and, above all, we all loved it!

In this TVC we revive our love for electric cars and our childhood memories by showing a giant slot car track on which 2 children race miniature Renault cars. City, countryside, beach, mountain, tunnel, looping, etc... the ultimate fantasy of the slot car track in an electrifying clip on a hit of the 80s with an evocative title: Electricity, from Orchestral Manoeuvre in the Dark.

All this before revealing exactly the same models, the whole Renault electric range, but in real size this time, as if to invite us to continue, but on real roads now.

Outcome

Published in Europe, the Renault – Electric Track spot generated 22 250 219 digital impressions in January without a media boost. There were 17K interactions, and already 4K views on YouTube after just the first week. Post-tests show that this TVC achieves all its objectives in terms of impact and motivations in addition to revive the love for miniatures cars and childhood memories.
