The main cause of car accidents in Israel is the fact that drivers ignore stop signs.We put up signs near junctions in Tel Aviv which replicated the appearance of a stop sign. The main difference was that the signs were giving the viewers (in this case the drivers) the middle finger. The signs carried a massage; "Ignoring a stop sign is the main cause for car accidents". This way it will be much harder to ignore it.

During the months of January and February 103 signs were scattered across Tel Aviv. According to the Road Safety Association Israel (RSA) the number of fatalities from car accidents during this period had dropped almost 20% compared to 2011, with number of fatalities reducing from 24 to 14. During that time, police enforcement has increased and traffic cameras were added along the roads. Though we hope that our signs had an effect on that positive change as well.
