ClientBriefOrObjective
The quarantine box promotes the content of Ken Follett’s novel "Whiteout" at POS in a drastic way: The book deals with a very contagious virus which is stolen. As nobody expects a quarantine box in a book shop, the display also arouses interest and the customer becomes curious.
Execution
The display was developed together with the complete campaign with its core idea “medical thriller”.
Outcome
Firstly, higher sales of Ken Follett’s new novel were generated ("Whiteout" has been top bestseller on the German bestseller since last September).
Secondly the display increased the positive image of the author and the publishing house, which results in additional sales of other Follett novels and other books from the publishing house.Furthermore the complete marketing campaign including the display won the "Buchmarkt Award" (the bookmarket award) for the publishing house.
Relevancy
As the novel deals with a contagious virus, it is lethal to read – or even touch it.
Precautions must be taken in order to protect the reader. Thus the only obvious way to display it, was in a quarantine box.
