Why is this work relevant for Direct?

In Colombia, on average, one person goes missing every hour and a half and 60% of missing people remain disappeared. Therefore, it’s a problem that affects a large part of the population, which is why it’s important to engage with families of missing people and brands that can use their reach to help search for them.

That’s why Missing Stock not only becomes an innovative tool to find missing people through AI and Advertising, but also a platform that any brand or family can use to help give more visibility to missing people with a new way to find them.

Background

Over the past decades a shocking number of 120.000 people have gone missing in Colombia. Civil war, natural disasters and personal tragedies have left countless families searching for loved ones.

Describe the creative idea

The International Foundation for Reunion and MUDI 3D & AR Studio conformed an image bank with faces of missing people and created a tool to search for them based on AI and Advertising.

Describe the strategy

This is how Missing Stock becomes the first image bank that uses artificial intelligence to replace the face of free image bank models with the face of missing people, being a free tool for any brand to use in their advertising campaigns and give more hope to families looking for their loved ones.

Target: Missing people, families suffering from the absence of missing loved ones, local and global brands.

Describe the execution

The tool combines facial recognition technology and a deep fake-based algorithm that allows to predict aging, changes in their factions and other critical variations. At the end we replaced the faces of the models of stock photos with the restored faces of missing people. The tool and image rights were free for all brands in Colombia to use. The only thing we asked is for each brand to add a disclaimer to the ad highlighting that the person in the ad is missing.

List the results

Thanks to Missing Stock, we found traces of 3 people who are in the DNA verification phase in order to be reunited with their families, just like Herminsul Pérez.
