EntrySummary
Physical violence and domestic abuse against women is the most widespread human rights abuse in South Africa. Making South Africa one of the top five women abuse capitals of the world. Every four minutes, a woman is abused, while three are killed every day. That’s 360 victims daily. These stories never make the news. Our media maintains its veil of silence, while perpetrators go unpunished for their crimes.
On the 22nd of March, the day after Human Rights Day, we launched a national newspaper, ‘The Daily Abuse - news you need to see’.
It documented abuse stories from the day before, 360 of them. Each story was an honest account readers had to relive in order to get the message.
Yesterday, on Human Rights Day, 360 women’s rights were abused. Today, tomorrow and every day that follows, will be no different. You can’t turn the page on the daily abuse.
