Fashion Fusion is an international ideas competition, designed in Germany. The participants come from all over Europe: Fashion-, tech-students and startups. The jurors: Renown fashion and technology experts. Fashion Fusion is a lab. Interdisciplinary teams work together on prototypes for three months in the Fashion Fusion Lab in Berlin, accompanied by coaches. Fashion Fusion is an award show. At the internationally well-known Fashion Week Berlin 2017 the winners and finalists were awarded at a fashion show. The Mission: Developing relevant, functional, sustainable and sought-after smart fashion and services that enrich people’s lives in the long term.

Execution

Fashion Fusion is an ideas competition, a lab and an award show. With this unique initiative Deutsche Telekom becomes the first worldwide telecommunications company, that dives into wearable tech. Along with partners - renown fashion and technology experts – and a network of excellence the company created a unique ecosystem for innovation. Apart from a huge amount of supporters this system contains diverse powerful elements like events, online- (https://fashionfusion.telekom.com/start) social media-activities as well as cooperations with multipliers. Furthermore, a well thought-out connectivity of all media- and project-elements.

Outcome

Fashion Fusion is an international ideas competition, designed and realised in Germany. Deutsche Telekom received more than 120 entries: 25 from Germany, 25 from other countries. 12 teams made it into the final round. 3 finalists were awarded. Along with partners and a network of excellence Deutsche Telekom created a unique ecosystem for innovation. The most innovative brands and pacemakers from the fashion and tech market joined the initiative – as supporters, coaches and members of the jury. In 2016/17 Fashion Fusion took place for the first time. Because of the big success a second edition of the challenge will start in summer 2017.

Relevancy

Fashion Fusion is an ideas competition and a unique initiative aimed at encouraging creative minds from fashion and technology to team up, engage and challenge the fashion status quo with groundbreaking concepts. FF is an innovative initiative at the intersection of fashion and technology – turning visionary concepts into lifestyle reality. FF was born out of the pursuit for pioneering new forms of technologically enhanced fashion, wearable technologies and everything in between. At FF, Deutsche Telekom strives to bring forth disruptive solutions and formats by merging mixed expertise in a collaborative space – to set new standards for smart fashion.

Synopsis

Deutsche Telekom connects people. Not just through networks and mobile technologies, but also through their experiences. The question is: What’s next after the smartphone? What will people connect with tomorrow? And what kind of experience will that be? The answer is close – close to the body. It’s the interface between fashion and technology.

To explore this booming market of the future and shape it while it is young, Deutsche Telekom has teamed up with the agency to launch an initiative. Their Goal: The invention of relevant smart fashion that sustains and enriches people’s lives. Fashion Fusion.
