This spot takes the classic scenario of a cowboy fighting evil in an Old West saloon and reinterprets it with a variety of found content and a bucketful of Nokia Astound smartphones. Featuring the Americana cover of Cole Porter’s classic cowboy anthem “Don’t Fence Me In,” the spot features snippets of games, movies, viral videos and social apps combined with carefully choreographed phones to create a world where Keyboard Cat, a villain from the dawn of talkies, Blinky the Pac-Man ghost, Afro Ninja and a sci-fi laser blaster that fires Angry Birds all coexist.
Featuring hand claps and boot stomps, the musical arrangement helps underscore the journey of the scrappy, triumphing hero as he surmounts each new obstacle, ready to take on the world. At the spot’s triumphant conclusion, the end line "MADE TO PERFORM" sums up both the technological prowess and entertainment possibilities of the device.
