All the sound design in this film was captured on location in the Dolomites, Italy. Wind being a central piece in the film we wanted it to feel as real and visceral as possible. Working in a 7.1 channel environment enabled us to create a completely believable and emotional sonic landscape. We wanted to treat the sound design as an extra character in the film. When our character is in the sky, the sound is really what propels her and moves her around. This dynamic piece of sound design had to be meticulously crafted to convey that feeling.
