Description

Brewing Heineken is not only a craft, it's an art. This art deserves a canvas. Paper is the starting point for many masterpieces and that's why a 3D paper animation is used to tell the story of the unique brewing process of Heineken. This ensures that the new commercial doesn't only look good on paper, but also on your screen.

The video explains what Heineken's secret is: the unique A-yeast. We take a dive into the beer and go back to the year 1886, when this yeast was first discovered. The first Heineken brewery and the world of 131 years ago are brought to life with stunning effects using 3D animated paper.

Execution

Heineken's beer-making is not only a craft, it's an art. And art needs a canvas. Thus, this video uses a canvas as palpable as possible: a paper structure would is the basis of telling Heineken's story. Together with a team of animators a highly detailed video was created that simulated a world of 3D paper. The main challenge was to give this computer graphic a rich look and feel, unlike other gc paper animations that tend to look flat and bland. Focussing on creating a bold and dramatic look with well thought lightning and an extreme amount of detail was one of the solutions. This led to a highly attractive and entertaining video, with a informative narrative.

Outcome

A total of 2.961.202 people were reached on Facebook, and the video was played a total of 1.1 million times. The percentage of viewers that viewed the entire video was 18.8 percent (which results in 206.000 videos fully viewed). Over 9000 people reacted to the video by commenting, liking or sharing. It was one of the most successful video adverts Heineken NL ran on Facebook.
