Background
Everywhere in France (and even across the world), the homeless situation is getting worse and worse, with the amount of people living on the street growing every year. It’s quite common to see men, women and children shoeless, coatless, sitting on the pavement in the freezing cold.
Our objective was to try and raise as much money as possible to help these people by providing them warm clothes and blankets.
Idea
Fashion brands have been investing millions in the Metaverse. They have released beautiful and creative clothe lines you can buy to dress your avatar.
Will, the first homeless person in the Metaverse, created a range of wearables you could buy in the RLTY Metaverse. The difference being that all the money raised was used to buy real warm clothes for the homeless people in France. If you bought a virtual jumper, a real jumper was given to a real person in the street.
Strategy
Our main target audience was the people interested in the Metaverse, but not just. With the Metaverse platform RLTY, people could get in and create their avatars in 2 or 3 clicks only. Thus, many journalists and influencers joined the event and contributed to buy the wearables.
Execution
After Will got vocal on social media platforms about the people in the real world, we curated the first fundraising event in the Metaverse. People could buy a selection of fashion wearables branded around Will and the Entourage charity. The money (euros and cryptos) was used to buy and donate real warm clothes to the homeless needing it.
Outcome
12,4 Ethereum were raised, that’s 24,000 euros that turned into 1000 jumpers, 300 sleeping bags, 500 backpacks and 2000 wool hats.
