Write a short summary of what happens in the radio or audio work.

"Birds Will Be Back" is part of a vast integrated campaign on reviving Kuyucuk Lake which was known as bird paradise. The work is a 24 hour audio track of birds, to be aired through mosques of Kuyucuk village, as a harbinger of good days for the habitants. The audio track imitates a day of Kuyucuk in the past like 233 bird species never left. Everything heard in the audio track is based on the sounds of those specific 233 birds and their daily routines. With this 24-hour-long realistic audio track, village with 284 habitants experienced a full day, like the birds never left. And hope is raised through whole country with a TV spot based on this project.

Translation. Provide a full English translation of any audio.

Cultural / Context information for the jury

As declared by UN, Kuyucuk is a lake of international importance in a country under threat of facing with water scarcity. The lake is a home to 233 different species of birds and it is the only source of water for migrating birds with no alternative for miles around. It completely dried up two years ago. Equally devastated, are the inhabitants of the nearby Kuyucuk village mourning for the loss of their livelihood as silence replaced the joyful sounds of birds.

Tell the jury about the sound design.

The purpose of the project was creating the ambient sound of the Kuyucuk in the past, like 233 bird species never left. First, we mined the sounds of 233 different bird species. Different birds chirp at different times of the day. We allocated the sounds to relevant time slots in consideration of all information we got from villagers, scientists and nature associations. With the guidance of nature experts, a 24 hour audio track of bird sounds was prepared which would meme a day of Kuyucuk before the lake dried up. To announce that the lake is returning, days prior to the drilling of an artesian well, the track was aired through the two mosques of the village. Thereby, the good news turned into an experience for the villagers. Village with 284 habitants experienced a full day like birds never left, thanks to the unexpected use of audio and medium.
