More than just a digital currency. Much more than distributing discount coupons. It’s all of this together, on a new relationship and rewards platform for McDonald’s clients. Every time the client interacts with the brand, he gets 1 fraction of bitecoins. By accumulating 1 bitecoin in his wallet, the client can exchange it for real products. The currency’s price varies all the time, making its conversion dynamic, fun and delicious.
Execution
We created a limited amount of Bitecoins and spread it across several places. And just like every cryptocurrency, it has to be mined. When passing by McDonald’s OOH using Waze, a notification containing the Bitecoin is sent. Then all one has to do is access the wallet on the Bitecoin site, type in the code and store the fraction of the value. It’s also possible to mine by downloading the app or sharing specific content on social networks. To retrieve it, all one has to do is accumulate 1 Bitecoin.
Outcome
We had 63,664 thousand impressions on Waze, out of which, 47 thousand were unique users. All of that on the first day of the platform. The conversion game was so much fun that the average time spent on our site was 02:27 minutes.
Strategy
Getting into the currently hottest economical topic, creating a cryptocurrency and creating a new rewards platform for the McDonald’s public, adutls and young people from all social classes.
Synopsis
McDonald’s is the greastest coupon distributor in the world, giving out millions of dollars in discounts every day. The goal is to increase and stimulate its client base by generating a bigger visit flow to the restaurant and product conversion.
