BriefExplanation

A young girl sits nervously on a sofa. The kettle whistles and a cup of tea is made in the kitchen. An older man brings two cups of tea out from the kitchen and places them down on the coffee table.

'Thanks Dad' she says.

He takes a sip of his tea and there is a knock on the door. Another young girl enters.

'I didn't know you were having a friend over' the dad says.

'Dad, this is Amy' she says 'She's not just a friend. She's my girlfriend'

The dad stands up and leaves the room and the two girls look devastated. He comes back with another cup of tea.

'Hi Amy. Tell me a little bit about yourself' he says. Both girls smile a wide smile of relief and take a sip of their tea.

End line reads ' Bringing people together one cup at a time'

EntrySummary

Canadians are very multicultural and accepting of others but they have a strong work ethic and clear plans for who and what their children should be as they reach adulthood. The pressure for young people to conform and live up to their parent’s expectations and dreams is huge. This results in a tension between the generations, as young adults want to make their parents proud, but also want to be true to who they really are.
