Overview

Describe any restrictions or regulations regarding Healthcare/RX/Pharma communications in your country/region including:

This was created for a pharmaceutical company in the US. It went through a rigorous review process with the internal medical/regulatory/legal team to meet all FDA standards.

Because there was no benchmark (nothing like this was ever done in pharma), each episode received additional scrutiny/restrictions from corporate communications.

Describe the target audience and why your work is relevant to them.

Our audience is the hemophilia A community. Hemophilia primarily affects boys and young men, who tend to internalize the emotional/social challenges of the condition, to not appear "weak".

Entertainment makes these issues mainstream (okay to talk about, and get help for) in a form they're already watching.

Write a short summary of what happens in the film

In this episode, host Justin Willman takes Jessica and Mark, the parents of 3 sons, 2 with hemophilia, on a surprise romantic date night.

Justin whisks the couple off to a fancy restaurant, where they are surprised by celebrity Chef Graham Elliot. Graham teaches Jess and Mark how to make an amazing meal, and reminds them that making time to indulge isn’t selfish—it’s a way of making their relationship, and by extension, the whole family, stronger.

Jess and Mark speak openly about their difficulty being fully engaged as spouses while the constant worry of a bleed always looms. Through the course of the episode we see them start to really relax, and simply enjoy each other. It’s a valuable moral for the many struggling parents in the hemophilia community: taking care of yourself and your relationship is one of the best things you can do as parents.

Cultural/Context information for the jury

Challenge Accepted is a reality/comedy series that takes on the unspoken issues of hemophilia one episode at a time. Each episode features a host (Justin Willman from Netflix's Magic For Humans), a guest (someone with hemophilia facing a specific challenge), and a coach (a celebrity friend that can help).

For this episode, “Indulge”, coach Graham Elliot - a famous American chef from shows such as "Top Chef" and "Master Chef" - helps Mark and Jessica (caregivers) learn to make time for themselves, for the health of their relationship. By cooking, eating, and indulging together.
