BriefExplanation
A haunting animation of actual drawings by sexually abused children donated
by Dr. Elspeth McInnes, a renowned Sociologist from University of South Australia for the benefit of Bahay Tuluyan (Shelter House)- an Australian foundation based in the Philippines that provides refuge and rehabilitation for sexually abused children.
EntrySummary
Worldwide, millions of children are forced into sexual intercourse every year. In the Philippines alone, from 2011-2016, there are 7418 children raped, by their uncles, fathers, older cousins and adults they trusted. Because of fear, more cases are unreported. These statistics do not capture the disgusting stories of rape within the family that are hidden as dark secrets.
The stories of abused children needed to reach the public, and move them to take action and support Bahay Tuluyan (Shelter House) programs for the welfare of victims.
But when asked to narrate what happened, child victims feel like they are being raped all over again. So, Bahay Tuluyan told their stories through an animated film using actual illustrations created by abused children.
