ClientBriefOrObjective
We needed to create an poster for the showroom, which attracted people to the Smart section of the showroom – as well as demonstrating the benefits of driving one of these vehicles.
Execution
To bring the narrow lanes and streets of Hong Kong to life in the showroom, we used a technique called reverse perspective – this involves using a 3D canvas and illustrating the furthest part of the artwork on the nearest part of the canvas – and vice versa.
This tricks the viewer’s eye, making what looks like a flat artwork appear to swim and move in front of them – and creating the illusion that the streets are even narrower and harder to navigate.
This not only demonstrated the abilities of the cars, it drew attention and created a fun photo opportunity in the Smart car area of the showroom.
Outcome
The artwork attracted immediate attention when placed in the showrooms around Hong Kong, as the campaign only started recently, we have yet to receive sales figures.
Relevancy
Smart’s small, nimble vehicles are perfect for the narrow roads of Hong Kong.
We needed to remind the public, who traditionally prefer larger, more unwieldy vehicles, of this.
Smart is also sold through Mercedes-Benz showrooms, so making it stand out from the more glamorous sports cars and sedans is a must.
