The film aims to raise interest of rheumatoid arthritis patients and their families in appropriate early treatment of the disease. It also appeals to doctors, who provide the patients with the treatment, to improve the level of the treatment in Japan.

BriefExplanation

The busy son is going to take his mother who is suffering from rheumatoid arthritis disease to the hospital. While she is getting ready to go out, he sees her struggling to put on lipstick with difficulty moving her fingers due to the disease. Then he has a flashback to recall as a boy that she has always improved her self-esteem by paying attention to her appearance. On the way to the hospital, he comments that the doctor resembles her late husband, and later she smiles cutely when the doctor tells her that the treatment is making progress. When going back home, he takes her for a walk to the sea she has loved since early times. Seeing his mother who is properly made up and looks beautiful and confident as she used to be, he recognizes the importance of early rheumatoid arthritis treatment.

As the life expectancy for Japanese women is the highest in the world, people have increased awareness to improve their quality of life by extending healthy life span. In Japan, nearly all women have a real sense of personal pride in their appearance, not only for formal occasions, but even when going to the local supermarket, or meeting a neighbor. Style, make-up and fashion are critical elements of a woman’s self-pride. In the movie, by depicting the Japanese women’s insight as a motif that she wants to be properly made up even if she suffers from the disease, we communicate the importance of early treatment for rheumatoid arthritis to extend healthy life span of the elderly and improve their quality of life.
