CampaignDescription
The Media Receiver 400 enables the IPTV service Entertain TV, and is intended to be a premium Deutsche Telekom product. With a first-class unboxing experience and an ultra simple set up procedure, the set-top box delivers an innovative entertainment experience.
At the same time, the receiver is seamlessly integrated into Deutsche Telekom’s hardware family, which includes Speedphone telephones and Speedport DSL routers.
The design language of a rectangle with rounded corners appears open, accessible, friendly and authentic, while representing Deutsche Telekom’s brand promises.
Execution
The new MR 400 is marked by a clear and straightforward design. It also provides an improved user experience. The refined, high-quality form language is evident in its materials, sensual surfaces, the shape of its housing, and in the user interface. It features the flowing shapes of dynamic design.
Implementation
The Media Receiver is the result of an iterative prototyping process and frequent user tests. Additionally, we took advantage of market and trend research throughout the development process.
In order to reduce its impact on the environment, the media receiver has been reduced in size in comparison to the previous model, and is made out of recycled synthetic material.
Outcome
The MR 400 is 40% smaller than the previous model. Users can enjoy a full range of flexibility by connecting a USB stick to display photos, play videos, and play music.
Additionally, the 500-GB hard drive can now be removed, so even if the receiver needs to be replaced, the customer can keep his recordings. It's one more example of Deutsche Telekom’s ‘Innovation, Competence and Simplicity’ brand values.
Synopsis
SITUATION
The world of TV and video entertainment has changed dramatically. An enormous variety of content can be consumed at any time on any device and there are no longer boundaries between live and on-demand content. More and more providers and video portals compete for customer attention, which creates a new and previously unknown freedom: on-demand offerings allow the customer to consume everything, everywhere. However, this new freedom has also created more complexity.
BRIEF
Create a TV set-top box that adheres to the device connecting platform style of Entertain TV. Furthermore, design a hardware device that meets Deutsche Telekom’s brand values by creating a customer journey that unifies brand and product experience across all touch points.
OBJECTIVE
• Increase positive perception of Deutsche Telekom as a TV provider
