Show customers how easy it is to switch to Origin Green Electricity. Convince small to medium business customers, who are more interested in cost control than saving the environment, that it’s worth switching from normal or ‘black’ electricity to ‘green' electricity. Make them believe that their existing provider, Origin, is passionate about sustainability and willing to put their money where their mouth is with the offer ‘switch and pay no more for green energy for 12 months’.
Idea
Highlight how little effort was required by using a labour intensive mail pack. Demonstrate green credentials by using a 'genuinely recycled mail pack'.We rescued dead mail from the Origin post room, in all 15,000 packs. The Origin ‘dead mail’ envelopes had address details and return to sender markings crossed out by hand and a headline handwritten on the envelope: "You don’t have to try this hard to do your bit for the environment". Letter printed on 100% recycled paper.” The pack was hand sealed using brown tape to highlight that it had been hand crafted.
Outcome
This pack outperformed the control by 15%. The client response was 'thank you, thank you, thank you', and the mailing received additional PR from marketing press and a consumer blog.
